Brand New's "The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me" 180g 2xLP postponed, revised dates coming in the next couple weeks

As you may have noticed, the pre-order for Brand New's "The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me" 180g 2xLP did not go up as planned yesterday. We have decided to work directly with the band to make this release exactly what they want, approvals that will take a little while for us to obtain. We were uncomfortable posting a pre-order for a record that hadn't been approved for production yet.

That being said, we will be posting news on this release in the next couple weeks with revised pre-order and release dates that WILL NOT be postponed further.

After much contemplation and thought, we have decided to delay the pre-order and release date for Brand New's "The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me" double 180 gram LP by THREE weeks. The pre-order will now begin on February 2nd, 2010 and the release date is now slated for April 6th, 2010.

We apologize any annoyance this may cause you, but we want to assure you that the pre-order WILL be going up on February 2nd, without any further delays. Without getting too specific, we chose to delay the release in an attempt to compromise with the band themselves who have been working on a separate vinyl version of the release.

Our release will be comprised of two 180 gram LPs housed in an extra heavy gatefold jacket, with black flood printing inside each pocket, and a combination of matte and spot gloss finishes on the front and back covers. The LPs will be in thick solid black innersleeves as well, a finished package that will look both beautiful and super sharp.

Likewise, we will be donating $1 from each record sold to the Long Island-based charity Island Harvest, who devotes 97 cents of every dollar donated to efforts to fight hunger. Here's a little more about what they do:

Our volunteers and staff “rescue,” or collect, good surplus food from over 600 local restaurants, caterers, farms, and other food-related businesses; and distribute it to a network of close to 500 soup kitchens, food pantries, and other places where those in need can access it. We also conduct educational programs to increase hunger awareness and inform the public how they can get involved in our mission to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island. - Island Harvest

We are extremely proud to announce that we will be releasing the Sophomore record by the genre defying, Philadelphia-based group Person L.

Headed by former The Starting Line lead singer Kenny Vasoli, Person L is an eclectic mixture of indie rock, rock, jazz and blues.

On November 17th we will be releasing the bands newest work, entitled "The Positives" on CD, limited edition vinyl LP, and digital formats. Here's what Kenny had to say about the record: "We were aiming to keep a very raw and dirty quality to the record while still making it comprehensive and colorful. All five of us contributed to these songs and for that much of our personal tastes are embedded in them."

We will be releasing more details as the release date approaches, stay tuned! Until then, head over to the band’s Myspace to stream their newest track “The Positives.” And be sure to check out the band's upcoming U.S. and Australian tours this Fall.

Kevin Devine Releases "Brother's Blood"

Our second upcoming release this Fall is from our good buddy and AFS veteran Kevin Devine, continuing his vinyl residency on AFS with the release of his 5th studio album "Brother's Blood" on limited edition vinyl, November 10th. We are excited and honored to have the opportunity to release another record for Kevin, but even more so to be a part of such a brilliant record. We've gone all out with this release, pressing the record as a double LP gatefold with a die-cut jacket, innersleeve inserts, and a rad laser etching on the D-side.

After a short hiatus on our end, we are back in the swing of things and are proud to announce the next release from Academy Fight Song: Copeland’s 2003 debut “Beneath Medicine Tree” on limited edition vinyl. We’ve slated the record for a September 15th release date, and should have the final records in hand within three weeks.

Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson LP and Four Year Strong LP re-pressing OUT NOW!

The current transition into the Fall months marks the release of Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson’s killer debut album on vinyl, and a re-pressing of Four Year Strong’s heavy-hitting “Rise Or Die Trying” LP on two new color pressings.

Miles’ LP is pressed on half white / half black colored vinyl and is definitely one of the sharpest packages we’ve done to date. The Four Year Strong re-pressing is available on two new colors: clear green / solid purple “nuke” [ltd. 200] and clear yellow / solid purple “nuke” [ltd. 300] -- the pressing plant chose not to press these on half & half, but the “nuke” looks incredibly sick!

The blue Kevin Devine 7”s have finally arrived after a two-month long debacle with the pressing plant. The translucent blue looks so beautiful, and these will begin shipping out this week. Thank you to all who have patiently been awaiting the record to arrive -- you won’t be disappointed.

We have a couple big announcements to make in the coming weeks, so keep your eyes and ears open…we are definitely finishing 2008 with a bang!

Today is the official release of Kevin Devine's newest release: Another Bag of Bones 7" digital single. Featuring two new tracks of strong political commentary and Kevin's beautiful lyrical/musical styles, this record is a must have for anyone excited about the upcoming presidential election and current affairs in general.

A bit of bad news: because of a delay in production with the test pressings, the 7" will not begin shipping out until Wednesday, September 03. We still have a limited number of the translucent red copies available in our webstore, but these are going fast.

After a rather long hiatus, Ris Paul Ric is back [for at least one show]. Saturday December 8^th, RIS will be opening for Ted Leo and the Pharmacists at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. RIS hasn’t played a show in almost a year, so if you’re in the D.C. area, this is show you must NOT miss.

On the same note, we have cut prices on all of Ris Paul Ric’s CD + LPs in our webstore. We’ve also included a new package deal: you can now buy all three LP color pressings of RIS’s “Purple Blaze” LP for one price. What a deal! These LPs are limited to 100, 100, and 300 – get a copy before they’re gone.

We also have a new LP addition to the store: Kevin Devine - Split The Country, Split The Street + Make The Clocks Move 2xLP, released by our good friends at Defiance Records out of Germany. You can buy the LP by itself or packaged with our Put Your Ghost To Rest 2xLP for a better deal, either way, we only have a handful of these imports.

White Rabbits 'Fort Nightly' 180 Gram LP Out Mid-November

As we speak, the next installation of our limited edition vinyl series is being pressed. White Rabbits 'Fort Nightly' LP will feature 3 different color vinyl pressings [ltd. 100/100/300] all on extra heavy 180 gram virgin vinyl. We've also done something special for the cover.

Fort Nightly is the debut album of Brooklyn-based six-piece, White Rabbits. The CD version was released by Say Hey Records a few months back, and since then the band has performed on David Letterman and the 2007 Glastonbury Festival, not to mention being named SPIN.COM "Band Of The Day" and NPR.ORG "Song Of The Day." The album also got a great review from Pitchfork (8.1+ rating), which you can read. We've also posted the album's opening track Kid On My Shoulders on our myspace player, so go give it a spin.
